Please take note in the above photos the men are actually holding the new born sharks with no attacks occurring-
What could possibly be going through this child’s mind??
What would the parent of this child be doing if the roles were reversed??
Would any parent want to see a hook stuck through their babies nostrils? I think not!
So why is it ok to do this to these majestic creatures?
Because the laws say it is…….
Just because the laws say it is legal to hunt sharks, does it really make it ok?
That is the real question at hand-
In the past this behavior from humans was acceptable…..Today the vast majority of humans disagree with these laws, the practice of mass slaughtering and inhumane hunting.
Fear in the past has been the base to drive these laws into effect. Through more interaction, scientific studies and awareness……. those fears of sharks are changing.
There are people in this world who dream of being side by side swimming with these creatures…..we are taking their dreams away. Is this ok?
Why is it some humans can get into the water with sharks and have such magical moments, while others are attacked?
It is due to human’s perception of these creatures, coupled with knowledge & understanding of how to coexist with sharks.
Some people who swim in the oceans do not take the time to educate themselves about the waters they will be swimming in, there is no enforcement to learn the facts about our oceans and shark attacks. Humans are very invasive creatures by nature – if we can get there, we will go, even if it means acting reckless.
The vast majority of shark bites come from individuals who have not taken the time educate themselves on how to defend themselves against sharks or how to act when sharks approach!
-That is the difference between divers and common beach dwellers-
Divers have knowledge of the oceans and the sea life they will be intruding upon.
Dogs attack people everyday, all day long- we do not see humans hunting all dogs and mass slaughtering them. Why sharks?
Here are our real concerns-
1. These animals HAVE TO BE HERE for our species SURVIVAL!!
and
2. If the people of the world are capable of committing these acts against sharks and other wildlife…..what are they capable of doing to humans??
We don’t want to live in a world without sea life……and we believe if all of the world knew what was happening to our Earth with regards to the importance of sharks, dolphins, whales and the ecological impact that will be made once they are gone, NO ONE would want to live without these creatures.
Here is why-
Whales poop, yes poop, feeds plankton, plankton feed fish AND produce OXYGEN. 70-80 % of the Earth’s oxygen comes from our oceans.
As whales are rapidly depleted from our oceans, there is less food for plankton, which means less food for fish and less oxygen for the Earth.
The sharks and dolphins work the other end. The sharks and dolphins keep the fish population that eat most of the plankton down to minimum. Without these 2 creatures too many fish would live in the ocean depleting the plankton too rapidly until there was no more plankton, just a bunch of starving fishing, dying off.
No plankton, no oxygen! No Earth!
So is it really ok to mass slaughter and kill just because it is legal??
